The Catcher in the Rye is a terrible book. I would only recommend it to the people that I hate. It's disappointing, the main character is too arrogant, and overall the plot is just annoying,
The book is disappointing, and not just because it is a remodel of a theme that one begins to suspect must master the author. Holden Caulfield, the main character who tells his own story, is a right person, but there is too much of him. ...
Holden is too arrogant of himself. The reader worries about his obviousness and repetition. Holden is also isn't as creative as everyone thought he was. In any case, he is so selfish that the other characters who go through the book— except his sister, have practically nothing to do with the book.
The plot is boring. Occasionally, Holden shows up at a hotel and asks for a prostitute, but at the climax of the story, all you get is him seeing his sister riding a rollercoaster. You don't even get to see the end of it.
All in all, The Catcher in the Rye is disappointing, the main character is arrogant, and the plot is boring.
