CIA, stands for Central Intelligence Agency, was established in 1947. It is a civilian foreign intelligence agency of the U.S. Government. CIAs are tasked with gathering, processing and analyzing national security information from around the world to assist the President and senior US government policymakers in making decisions relating to national security. CIAs collection intelligence primarily through the use of human intelligence (HUMINT). [1]

The responsibilities of a CIA are listed here:

  • Collecting intelligence through human sources and by other appropriate means, and evaluating intelligence related to the national security and providing appropriate dissemination of such intelligence.

  • Providing overall direction for and coordination of the collection of national intelligence outside the United States through human sources by elements of the Intelligence Community authorized to undertake such collection, so in coordination with other departments, agencies, or elements of the United States Government which are authorized to undertake such collection, ensuring that the most effective use is made of resources and that appropriate account is taken of the risks to the United States and those involved in such collection.

  • Performing such other functions and duties related to intelligence, but not affecting the national security as the President or the Director of National Intelligence may direct.[2]

CIAs on average earn $74,872 - $136,771 annually. [3]

To become a CIA, you must meet the following requirements for applying a position in CIA:

  1. Be a citizen of the United States.

  2. Be at least 18 years old, and possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  3. Have strong interpersonal skills.

  4. Have a strong interest in international affairs.

  5. Be able to write clearly and accurately.

To be a good CIA, you have to:

  1. Stay Clean

  2. Learn other languages

  3. Be flexible and sociable

  4. Be physically fit

  5. Be mentally fit
