A farmer is a person who owns or manages a farm.[1]

The responsibilities of a farmer is listed here:
  1. making a plan for finances and production to maintain farm progress against budget parameters;
  2. marketing the farm's products;
  3. purchasing supplies, such as fertilizer and seeds;
  4. arranging the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery, and equipment;
  5. planning activities for trainee staff, mentoring and monitoring them;
  6. maintaining and monitoring the quality of yield, whether livestock or crops;
  7. understanding the implications of the weather and making contingency plans;
  8. making sure that products are ready for deadlines, such as auctions and markets;
  9. making sure that farm activities comply with government regulations;
  10. keeping an eye out animal health and welfare, including liaising with vets;
  11. maintaining a knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them;
  12. protecting the environment;
  13. keeping financial records up to date.[2]
The salary of a farmer is $69,300 annually.[3]

To become a farmer, you have to[4]:
  1. Learn about farming. 
  2. Decide what kind of farming you'd like to do.
  3. Get first-hand experience by having a good sense of humor, being physically fit, and ba aware that you might not earn much money.
